Here's Ntozake Shange, author of FOR COLORED GIRLS WHO HAVE CONSIDERED SUICIDE WHEN THE RAINBOW IS ENOUGH. I love when she says, "The challenge was not to be surprised by the vitriol that accompanied [my work]..." (emphasis mine).
Thanks so much for posting this interview, Neesha. Currently, there is a play revival of Colored Girls... here in Atlanta, which I plan on seeing soon, so there is a lot of interest about this author and her work.
Also, this whole series has been great! Really fascinating with the diverse authors you have spotlighted.
This is the blog of Neesha Meminger, writer and objector. Also, author of three books for young adults - SHINE, COCONUT MOON, JAZZ IN LOVE, and INTO THE WISE DARK. For more info, visit www.NeeshaMeminger.com.
